What the heck?

I have come to notice that many businesses tend to put preferred race or language when hiring people and then claim that they are an equal opportunity employer.

Now it has also spilled into advertising businesses. One example I saw recently:

"We are a newly open mechanic shop specialising in BMWs and other vehicles.

We service, repair and paint old and new cars.

We are 100% (insert race) owned.

Please visit our shop.

Bla bla bla"

Why do you have to mention 100% owned by a certain race? Do you think that it will garner you more business from your own kind?

I feel it is stupid and redundant to mention that. You limit your market. You turn other races off.

People will come if your work is good, if prices are competitive, if you don't cheat, etc.

Now, if you do shoddy work or prices are high or you screwed something up, what will people say about you? And it will automatically be linked to the race because you have played that card in the first place.

These are the little things that contribute to racism, don't you think?
